Faculty Innovation Hub
What is the Faculty Innovation Hub?
The hub is a space for:
- Regional acceleration of the delivery of career education programs and faculty professional development.
- CE/GE cross-college/cross-discipline collaboration, sharing best practices and innovations for “at-scale” curriculum projects in alignment and partnership with Los Angeles regional industry.
The relevance of community colleges is changing, and we are committed to training a relevant workforce. We have initiatives such as Pathways, Student Equity and Achievement, and Vision for Success that are intended to meet the state’s equity goals. Our students deserve faculty who iterate at the pace of industry and four-year institutions while sticking to our mission of student-centered programs and curriculum that truly focuses on populations who have often been excluded from the system. In the 4th Industrial Revolution, community colleges should be centered in a system that has often not provided the correct prioritization.
The Hub serves as the place that fosters collaborative innovation between colleges across disciplines, so faculty are able to ‘fast track’ this work to provide students with current in-demand workforce readiness. Faculty of each of the LA19 play a vital role in facing a number of imminent challenges and addressing these roadblocks through enhanced innovation and cross-institutional regional collaboration.
On the Faculty Innovation Hub leadership steering committee and in the working Summits, faculty participants design projects to engage in an iterative innovation process for the region that takes innovation a step further in that General Education and Career Education faculty collaborate to build a better future for community college students.
