CCEJ’s Cultivating Compassion: Community Mediation Certification Training

Strengthen your team’s ability to work through conflict by certifying them as community mediators! This relationship-centered training introduces the core principles and methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Restorative Justice. Our curriculum follows American Bar Association guidelines and meets the standards of the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act (DRPA). Participants will practice skills through discussion, hands-on exercises, case studies, role-plays, and feedback from experienced mediators and trainers.
Led by CCEJ’s adult education team, this 4-day Community Mediation Certification Training will take place in-person at our office in Long Beach on consecutive Thursdays/Fridays: October 23-24 and October 30-31 from 9am- 4pm. Attendance and participation on all 4 days is required for completion. The cost for this training is $860. At the conclusion of the training, all participants will be Certified Mediators in the state of California.

Introductory Training in Restorative Justice

We are excited to invite all teachers, parents, families, staff at all levels, and community members to our Introductory Restorative Justice Training.
Come experience an interactive introduction to Restorative Justice! In this two-hour session, you will learn about the fundamentals of the work and experience a Restorative Justice Circle. You may be wondering, what is restorative justice? Restorative Justice includes strategies for how we engage in dialogue, how we build relationships, how we address conflict, and our general ways of being everyday in a way that builds trust and well-being in our homes or workplaces. We seek to move away from punitive models. Therefore, we will spend time experiencing and living the circle practice, including games and dialogue. This workshop is designed for people interested in learning more about restorative practices or who want a refresher on the values ​​of restorative justice work. So You Want to Create a Climate Career Pathway with GSPP? (webinar, option 1)

In this hour-long webinar, you’ll learn what promise the state’s new Golden State Pathways Program (GSPP) has for districts and schools interested in creating and expanding climate career pathways. The state has declared climate pathways as one of the priority areas in the GSPP RFA.

But what is a climate pathway? What are the specific features of a this funding that might help your LEA launch a climate pathway, no matter where you’re starting from? How can you leverage your LEA’s previous work in CTE or in sustainability? And who can help you navigate all the pieces of the process?

In this webinar, we’ll help you think through answers to these questions, giving you a solid starting place for using GSPP to build robust and engaging climate pathways for your diverse learners. You will come away with a deeper understanding of the GSPP, as well as next steps you can take.

The virtual Healthcare Pathways career panel will be on Wednesday March 22nd 6pm-7:30pm. There will be 60 minutes of moderated discussion followed by audience Q&A.
