Pathways Improvement Scope
LBUSD plans to strengthen career pathways and improve access to work-based learning (WBL) by collaborating with LBCC, industry partners, and other stakeholders. This includes identifying and embedding early college options and WBL opportunities in the eight priority CTE sectors, streamlining enrollment for subgroups, and offering more professional development and collaboration time for staff. Efforts will also focus on creating new ICT/Digital Media STEM CTE pathways, partnering with industry to advise on pathway development, and marketing these pathways with a focus on equity and inclusion. Finally, LBUSD will continuously collect and track WBL data to ensure equitable experiences for all student groups.
Goals & Priorities
LBUSD will collaborate with LBCC and other partners to embed early college options (dual enrollment, articulation) and grow work-based learning (WBL) across LARC’s eight priority industry sectors. K12 SWP funds will help expand industry partnerships, enhance career preparation and training (e.g., internships, certifications), and support professional development for LBUSD staff. New ICT/Digital Media STEM pathways aligned to LARC’s regional plan will integrate early college courses, WBL experiences, and industry-valued certifications, ensuring students—especially those in underrepresented subgroups—are better prepared for careers in high-demand fields.
