Greetings from the California Center for Climate Change Education at West Los Angeles College!
One of the purposes of the Climate Center (per AB 1913) is to “Develop and sustain an annual urban climate change and sustainability conference.”
For our first annual conference, we are planning a 3-day ✨Climate Action Palooza✨ that will engage students, faculty, staff, external partners, and the community at large in various aspects of climate action, education, and workforce development in the green and blue sectors.
We hope to empower, inspire and get everyone excited about the many ways in which we all can support climate action, the decarbonization of economies, and environmental justice.
Climate Action Palooza at WLAC (from 10am- 5pm)
Day 1, Tue Oct 24: student-led celebration of the International Day of Climate Action.
Day 2, Wed Oct 25: climate solutions Hackathon (co-hosted with WLAC’s Creativity Lab)
Day 3, Thu Oct 26: Green & Blue Jobs Conference
Events will include talks and panels with climate leaders and experts, exhibits, climate action-inspired art shows, workshops, hands-on activities, and displays by industry partners. Attendees can register for one, two, or three days. All events are free and open to the public. Questions can be directed to CAClimateCenter@wlac.edu
