LA28 Collaborates with Local Community Leaders to Plan for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Discussion Areas Highlight Community Business Development, Local Workforce Development and Sustainability
The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games today announced it has held initial meetings with local community leaders to gather advice and guidance for Games planning around community business and procurement, local hire and workforce development and sustainability.
LA28 created three groups dedicated to these topics to ensure the 2028 Games planning reflects the values of Los Angeles, uplifting communities and creating economic opportunities across the region.
Participants in the working groups represent organizations across the Los Angeles region that are actively engaged in local communities and interested in shaping the future of our city and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The three groups assembled by LA28 will meet quarterly to inform LA28 planning with diverse viewpoints and community knowledge.
“We are working closely with civic and nonprofit organizations and their subject matter experts to ensure diverse voices are included as we plan the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said LA28 Vice President of Impact Erikk Aldridge. “We have a unique opportunity to use the Games as a catalyst for progress, co-creating benefit for the region that will be around well after the Games are over.”
These groups will ensure the LA28 Games represent Los Angeles by providing guidance on the Games’ impact and sustainability plans. The groups will help shape policies to provide small, local and Minority-owned businesses with access to contract opportunities and workers representing the diverse Los Angeles community with access to job opportunities associated with the Games. They will help identify ways to accelerate local impact and sustainability investments and practices, ensuring the LA28 Games will serve as a catalyst for lasting benefits to the region.
