Pathways Improvement Scope

The Future Ready: GALS LA Middle School to College STEM Pipeline project expands career exploration and early college access for middle school students by building awareness of Health Care and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) pathways. In partnership with Los Angeles Mission College, local STEM-focused high schools, and industry partners, the project provides bilingual family engagement, career exploration activities, dual enrollment opportunities, counseling, and structured exposure to college and workforce pathways that connect middle school students to high-demand STEM careers.

Goals & Priorities

The project aims to increase STEM career awareness, college readiness, and pathway participation among low-income, Latina, and English Learner students who are underrepresented in high-wage STEM fields. Key priorities include strengthening K-14 pathway alignment with Los Angeles Mission College, expanding dual enrollment and advising opportunities, increasing family engagement, providing career exposure through industry professionals and school visits, and creating equitable access to healthcare and ICT career pathways that lead to college and workforce success.
