Pathways Improvement Scope

Centinela Valley Union High School District (CVUHSD) will use K12 SWP funding to strengthen, expand, and better align its CTE pathways with postsecondary programs and high-wage, high-demand careers in the Los Angeles region. The work includes developing new dual enrollment pathways in Data/Computer Science and Education/Teacher Preparation; expanding and improving existing pathways across sectors including Arts, Media and Entertainment, Engineering, Health, Construction, Environmental Resources, Hospitality, and Manufacturing; and integrating industry-recognized certifications and pre-apprenticeship opportunities. The plan also strengthens alignment with El Camino College and CSU Dominguez Hills while expanding student access to dual enrollment, college credit, industry-current curriculum and resources, and targeted transition supports.

Goals & Priorities

CVUHSD’s primary goals are to increase college and career readiness, improve pathway and dual enrollment completion, expand equitable access for underserved students, and strengthen alignment with regional workforce needs. Key priorities include increasing college and career readiness by 5% annually, increasing pathway and dual enrollment completion rates by 5%, and growing industry and stakeholder partnerships by 10%. The plan prioritizes wrap-around student supports, including CTE Student Support Specialists, dual enrollment tutoring, college counseling, mentorship, and faculty/counselor collaboration, to address equity gaps and help students successfully earn college credit, complete pathways, and transition into postsecondary education and high-wage, high-demand careers.
