Pathways Improvement Scope
This project builds on previous K12 SWP initiatives, focusing on all Career and Technical Education (CTE) sectors to expand and diversify educational offerings. Aligned with the Regional Plan, Vision 2030, and labor market studies, it aims to bridge secondary education with local community colleges, enabling students to earn up to 12 college credits by high school graduation. Leveraging lessons and resources from prior efforts, the project enhances career readiness with innovative, hands-on learning experiences that address emerging workforce needs and maximize the impact of K12 SWP investments.
Goals & Priorities
To align career pathways with high-wage, high-demand careers, the project focuses on ten measurable outcomes, including a 10% increase in CTE certifications for underserved students, professional development for teachers, and alignment of pathways with pre-apprenticeship requirements. Efforts include incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, offering work-based learning opportunities, and integrating AI for career exploration and personalized learning. College and Career Pathway Advisors (CCPAs) will provide targeted support to students, especially those from underserved backgrounds, ensuring pathways align with labor market needs and facilitate postsecondary transitions. These objectives address economic mobility barriers and align with regional labor market demands, preparing students for success in high-growth industries like healthcare, ICT, and advanced manufacturing.
