Pathways Improvement Scope
NLM Future Ready builds on prior funding by expanding dual enrollment opportunities with Cerritos College and Long Beach City College and introducing new pathways, including an Automotive Service Technician Certificate and Urban Farming Certificate. The project modernizes classrooms and curricula to meet current industry standards while offering industry-recognized certifications like Welding, Auto Tech, and Patient Care. By increasing work-based learning opportunities such as internships and mentoring, and providing professional development for teachers, the project ensures students are equipped for success in high-wage, high-demand careers.
Goals & Priorities
The NLM Future Ready project equips students with the skills and certifications needed for high-wage, high-demand careers in industries like Advanced Manufacturing, Health, ICT/Digital Media, Energy, and Transportation. The project will serve over 2,000 students and 60 teachers by expanding Dual Enrollment opportunities with Cerritos College and Long Beach City College, offering pathways such as the Automotive Service Technician Certificate and Urban Farming Certificate. By modernizing classrooms, aligning curricula with industry standards, and offering work-based learning opportunities such as internships, mentoring, and job shadowing, students will acquire hands-on experience and earn industry-recognized credentials. Additionally, professional development for teachers will align instruction with workforce needs, ensuring students are prepared for seamless transitions to college and careers in emerging industries.
