Pathways Improvement Scope
Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD) aims to enhance digital media career exploration electives at Adams and Parras Middle Schools by introducing SmartLab Studios. These studios provide a project-based, hands-on learning environment, enabling students to engage in video production, graphic design, animation, and audio editing while fostering practical learning, engagement, and retention. This initiative aligns with RBUSD’s mission to prepare students for future careers by providing a pathway into digital media and technology fields. In addition RBUSD will establish a partnership with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) through a formal MOU to create internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning opportunities for high school students. These activities include personalized job readiness workshops, guest speaker sessions, career presentations, and occupational training programs to enhance student engagement. Lastly, RBUSD will collaborate with the National High School Career Day Network (NHSCDN) through a formal MOU to organize high school career day events focusing on students’ needs and career interests.
