Pathways Improvement Scope
PVPUSD’s project will transform 6 academic courses into 3 new CTE Pathways, each offered at 2 high schools. These pathways, each with industry-informed and community college aligned courses, are designed to position with regional labor market information, priority employment sectors, community college credit, and workforce development pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships. PVPUSD will significantly emphasize student support services for high school students navigating college courses and work-based learning (WBL), with respectful care for underrepresented students. The pathways to be developed include “Computer Science & Cybersecurity”, “Engineering & Mechatronics”, and “Business with Entrepreneurship”.
Goals & Priorities
This project aligns with the CCCCO Vision 2030 Actions 7, 8, and 11: Increase educational access for prospective low-income learners to enhance their socio-economic mobility by developing a high-tech/high-touch system, to take customized educational and training opportunities to them, including apprenticeships, work-based learning, and incorporating Learning-Aligned Employment Programs.
Computer Science & Cybersecurity, Engineering & Mechatronics, and Business & Entrepreneurship measurable outcomes include:
1) Assess LA Harbor pathways, course objectives, and student learning outcomes for alignment toward articulation and dual enrollment.
2) Complete articulation or dual enrollment paperwork on available agreements.
3) Develop and embed WBL in Artificial Intelligence (3) and Climate-based projects (3) for the three pathways relevant to their industry sector.
4) Mentor pathway students to enroll in AP Seminar and AP Research.
