Pathways Improvement Scope

The K12FC recognizes the importance of students in grades 6–12 understanding post-secondary options beyond a direct four-year college path. Building on prior efforts, K12FC aims to: 1) ensure special population students participate in CTE pathways and access work-based learning opportunities, including internships and pre-apprenticeships; and 2) expand articulated and dual enrollment courses in CTE disciplines, enabling students to earn college credits and develop skills while in high school. With a strong foundation established through previous projects, K12FC continues to strengthen partnerships and pursue objectives that support students beyond secondary education.

Goals & Priorities

The K12 Foothill Consortium (K12FC) aligns its CTE pathways with the eight priority sectors in the LARC Regional Plan 2024–2027, focusing on measurable outcomes such as increasing student enrollment in capstone courses by 10%, boosting the number of completers earning college credit by 20%, and raising the postsecondary transition rate into community college programs by 15% within two years. Students will access articulated and dual enrollment courses, industry certifications, career exploration activities, and work-based learning opportunities like internships and apprenticeships, ensuring readiness for high-demand, high-wage careers. Equity-focused initiatives include targeted outreach, enhanced counseling, mentoring, and transportation support to close gaps for disproportionately impacted students and ensure access to resources and opportunities. These efforts align with regional labor market needs, preparing students for growth sectors such as healthcare, ICT/digital media, and advanced manufacturing while fostering economic mobility and long-term success.
