Pathways Improvement Scope

C-VUSD’s project seeks to address the need for WBL by establishing partnerships with local businesses and offering structured internships, apprenticeships, and industry-recognized certifications. By providing equitable access to WBL, the project will ensure that students gain the practical skills and hands-on experience needed to meet the demands of these high-wage sectors. This initiative aligns students’ career preparation with local industry needs, creating a clear pipeline from education to employment in growing fields while addressing the equity gap by focusing on disadvantaged students historically underrepresented in these opportunities. Ultimately, the project supports the dual goal of improving student outcomes and meeting regional workforce demands for skilled, well-prepared workers.

Goals & Priorities

The project aims to enhance Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities. To facilitate meaningful WBL experiences, C-VUSD will establish strong partnerships with local businesses and industries that are aligned with their CTE pathways. These partnerships will give students access to internships, job shadowing, and mentorship opportunities. By leveraging employer insights, they can tailor CTE curriculums to align with industry needs, ensuring students gain relevant skills that enhance their employability. C-VUSD will also create structured internship programs that connect students with local employers. These internships will be designed to provide hands-on experience in real-world work environments. Internships will align with CTE pathways and include clear learning objectives, performance assessments, and feedback mechanisms to track student progress and skill development. Lastly, to ensure equitable access to WBL opportunities, C-VUSD will provide support services, including career counseling, job readiness workshops, and attending conferences. These services will be tailored to address the unique challenges disproportionately impacted students face, including low-income, minority, and English learner populations. By equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge, we aim to improve their access to high-wage, high-demand careers.
