Pathways Improvement Scope
ABCUSD builds on prior rounds of funding by expanding access to dual enrollment and industry-recognized certifications like AWS, CISCO, and CPR/First Aid. BEST 2.0 improves upon previous pathways by creating 150 new work-based learning opportunities and engaging 400 middle school students annually to bridge early education and CTE pathways. Additionally, the integration of AI literacy into pathways and targeted professional development for CTE teachers ensures alignment with evolving industry standards and workforce demands.
Goals & Priorities
The BEST 2.0 project will empower students by expanding access to high-wage, high-demand career pathways while addressing equity gaps in education. With a focus on Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and ICT/Digital Media, the project will serve over 200 students annually through Dual Enrollment opportunities in partnership with Cerritos College, enabling early college credits and industry-recognized certifications like AWS, CISCO, and CPR/First Aid. Additionally, the project will create 150 new work-based learning opportunities such as internships and job shadowing, while engaging 400 middle school students in career exploration programs. To ensure success, AI literacy will be integrated into every CTE pathway, and teachers will receive professional development to align instruction with evolving industry standards, preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow.
