Pathways Improvement Scope
SIATech Academy South scope of improvement centers on addressing the regional shortage of qualified employees in high-skill, high-wage jobs through strategies aligned with the Los Angeles Regional Consortium’s (LARC) 2024-2027 SWP Strategic/Regional Plan. The initiative seeks to expand Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities and enhance post-secondary transition and completion rates, particularly for underserved populations such as justice-involved students, foster youth, and at-promise youth. Additionally, it aims to improve academic success through early college credit, AI literacy, and personalized education, while fostering workforce development via apprenticeships and faculty collaboration. These efforts are designed to create a sustainable talent pipeline that meets regional labor market demands and supports economic growth.
Goals & Priorities
SIATech Academy South goals and objectives are to enhance Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities, close equity gaps, and support opportunities for Youth and English Language Learners (ELL). This includes creating pathways to high-wage jobs, expanding hands-on WBL labs, and offering certifications like OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, and AI literacy with ELL support. It focuses on increasing early college access, providing Spanish-language resources, and developing student services like career portfolios and transition courses. Partnerships with organizations, postsecondary programs, and community involvement from Latinx professionals and alumni will help prepare students for college and career success.
