Pathways Improvement Scope

YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC) will introduce a new pathway: Advance Manufacturing. YouthBuild will partner with Explore Your Potential to develop a system-wide approach to career readiness training and exposure. The Career Connections curriculum from Southwest Carpenters Union and Advanced Manufacturing strategies from Goodwill of Southern California will also be embedded in the pathway. A .5 CTE Director Coordinator will be hired to ensure students are provided with career exploration opportunities. Quarterly engagement activities and business mentors will be provided by PGIM. A CTE Instructor in Advanced Manufacturing will be contracted to liaise with LATTC and Goodwill to design and implement hands-on activities and teach basic certifications.

Goals & Priorities

A team of school and MSW staff will develop processes and resources to help stabilize student housing. Goodwill So Cal will serve as an Executive Level Advisory Board and help seed a robust Advanced Manufacturing pathway that responds to youth and community needs. A 1.0 SWP Coordinator will establish agreements with community colleges for dual enrollment opportunities and track student involvement and progress.
