Pathways Improvement Scope

The need to continue the collaboration with Santa Monica College is tantamount to the success of student participation and strengthening of the career pathways at the high schools. This grant will provide the district’s middle school and continuation school students with increased awareness and access to programs and opportunities at both the high schools and SMC, and to make more informed decisions about their future careers.

Goals & Priorities

SMMUSD will create a college and career exploration program at the middle school level cultivating career interests and enhancing knowledge about existing high school CTE opportunities for students in our targeted populations (EL, Foster Youth, SED) and the overall middle school population They will offer a summer bridge program for rising 9th grade students to boost academic skills, create college and career aspirations; expose them to college life and rigor, and develop future-readiness skills The district will explore creating a middle or early college program within the district to target underserved students. They will hire a CTE College and Career Transitional Support Provider that will provide connections to wrap around services
