Pathways Improvement Scope

Based on an analysis of both ECC priorities and the LARC Regional Plan’s “high-growth/high-wage” industry sectors in the LA region, CVUHSD is exploring both opening new pathways in emerging fields such as Teacher Prep/Education, Music and Recording Arts, Film, and Digital Modeling and Toy Design, and expanding current pathways in established industries such as Manufacturing/Alternative Energy Vehicles, Photography, Biomedical and Patient Care, and Construction and Wood Technology.

Goals & Priorities

To further align CVUHSD’s Strong Workforce Program (SWP) Priority Industry Sector pathways with emerging career fields, the district will collaborate with El Camino College (ECC) to identify certification programs and registered pre-apprenticeships in environmental technology/sustainability and creative economy industries. Additionally, the district will continue to implement dual enrollment courses in music and recording arts, film, and digital art. To enhance dual enrollment and pathway completion support, a “Dual Enrollment Success Tutoring” program will be developed and implemented in collaboration with ECC. Furthermore, by implementing the “Career Success Explorer” industry/college mentorship program, pathway completion rates will be increased. This program will connect CVUHSD pathway students (mentees) with ECC college students (mentors) and industry professionals within the same pathway.
