Pathways Improvement Scope

POLAHS is committed to providing its students with diverse pathway enhancement and expansion opportunities to prepare them for success in their chosen fields. The school will partner with various organizations, including the Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI), Dynamic Education, Nikon USA Educational Ambassador program, Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, Southwest Carpenters Union, National Geographic International Photography Expedition, UCLA “Game Lab” summer program, El Camino College, and Orange Coast College, to provide students with internships, field trips, mentorships, on-the-job training, and other opportunities to gain real-world experience in their chosen fields (marine transportation, photography, welding, graphic design, or video production). Additionally, POLAHS offers individualized support to students to help them identify academically and financially accessible postsecondary options that meet their individual goals.

Goals & Priorities

POLAHS’s goals and priorities will be centered on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, fostering academic excellence, promoting social and emotional well-being, and preparing students for postsecondary opportunities. To achieve these goals, POLAHS will implement a variety of initiatives, providing personalized support to students through individualized education plans, counseling services, and tutoring. POLAHS will offer a variety of dual enrollment and course alignment opportunities with local community colleges and will partner with local businesses and organizations to provide students with internships, field trips, and other work-based learning experiences and opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports.
