Goals & Priorities

K12 SWP Round 6 funding will increase student access to industry-standard technology, equipment, and software continues to be essential in order to keep pace with AME job market demands. SWP Grant funds in 2021-23 have helped to refresh each of our media labs for middle and high school AME pathway students. It is now time to refresh technologies that are currently being used by our industry partners. Our animation labs will update their Cintiqs, photo labs will add Cintiqs, and stage tech will update their sound and lighting equipment including light and sound boards, cabling, and fixtures. Demand for our film and broadcast journalism classes has made it possible to add a new AME CTE credentialed teacher and additional sections. New computers and equipment are needed to outfit the additional classroom.

Professional development including software and hardware training, externships, certification authorization, and collaborative time to plan with like discipline peers and GCC instructors is needed in order to maintain instruction that is relevant, sequential, and allows for a seamless transition from secondary to postsecondary pathway programs. Stage Craft pathways continue to grow and in need of updates to sound and lighting equipment.
