Pathways Improvement Scope

The LEA is creating a BHHS Career Academy as a career oriented business immersion experience for students in advanced CTE courses. The project is aligned with the SWP 2023-2024 Los Angeles regional priorities. Students will have work based learning experiences in the hospitality industry that will benefit them regardless of their CTE Pathway or future career choices.

Goals & Priorities

The BHHS Career Academy is a business immersion experience designed to equip students with the tools and confidence they need to present themselves formally, in writing and orally, for a future internship, job, or college interviews. Round 6 grant funds will provide the year-long bus transportation to the hotels and Santa Monica College, uniforms (black blazers and black polo shirts), career-oriented resources (career exploration software, padfolios for note taking; business cards and thank you notes). CTE credentialed teachers/career coaches will make the following possible: Career Exploration – Monthly Hotel Rotations; Career Exploration – Career Oriented Workshops at School; Communications Skills – Monthly Presentations; Leadership Skills – Leaders of Cohorts; Year-Long Program Promoting Sustainable Relationship with Industry; Work Based Learning Opportunities. Qualified Future Job Applicants.
