Pathways Improvement Scope
Access for students in targeted subgroups (Students with disabilities, Foster/Homeless, English learners) to engage with industry and community colleges through events for career day, job fairs, field trips, and designated workshops through the support of the Career readiness leads and College & Career Techs.
Improved coordination between departments and aligning of systems that connect industry and career pathways to our departments of Student Services, Equity and Access, Special Education and Elementary Education. The added support will allow LUSD to develop stronger systems and guidance plans for promoting and implementing career exploration from middle school to high school.
Goals & Priorities
Hiring of two Career Readiness & Pathway lead/counselor (each assigned to one high school/ one middle school/ and alternative program), Hiring of one College and Career technician (classified) to support, Purchase of Career Exploration online platform – Pathful: Virtual Job Shadow, Partner with college partners to perform the following activities:
Colleges to visit campus on events dedicated to the following: Inspire: College and Career Readiness (event for senior students to meet with community colleges and industry professionals to learn about careers requiring 2 years or less); Middle School Career Showcase (CTE pathways, Adult school CTE, and community colleges meeting with students and parents about opportunities related to dual enrollment and high school options in career education)
College visits to have hands-on experiences within CTE programs, coordinated by Career Readiness leads
