Pathways Improvement Scope

Pathway improvement will expose Whittier HS and California HS students to Rio Hondo Degree and Certificate programs in Alternative Fuels and Advanced Transportation Technology, Electric Vehicle Technology, the apprenticeship model with Tesla, and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Automotive Technology. Students will be exposed to Rio Hondo programs and Automotive careers through campus and worksite tours, guest speakers from college and industry, and connection to work-based learning through the SST. The CCPA will intentionally reach out to nontraditional industry professionals to increase their presence on the CTE Advisory and allow students to see and work with them.

Goals & Priorities

Purchase and install state-of-the-art equipment to ensure students receive instruction in current and emerging technologies. Purchase supplies to support the new equipment and curriculum. Professional development and curriculum development incorporating emerging technologies. Arrange site visits, guest speakers, and other work-based learning experiences with Rio Hondo College and industry partners. Analyze student data on a regular basis to ensure the program and supports are meeting students’ needs. Provide professional development for teachers/faculty and SST to learn about effective practices to ensure the success of special populations, especially nontraditional students. Work with Rio Hondo to increase the number of students receiving early college credit through articulation and dual enrollment.
