Pathways Improvement Scope

Pathway improvement by expanding engagement and progression through the Digital Media Pathway include: (1) New recruitment of students and families — widening a local pipeline of digital media and web developer talent and responding to L.A.’s Digital Media industry diversity and competitiveness goals; (2) Professional learning for counselors – expanding District capacity to nurture and encourage previously marginalized students, promoting and accelerating strong
students, and assisting those at risk, especially English Learners. It further ensures counselors acquire industry knowledge – of post-secondary training and access-to-employment options and opportunities that further students’ workforce readiness; (3) New advanced curriculum — providing specialized STEM-focused industry-relevant instruction and closing students’ skills gaps; (4) College credit course — offering students a broad range of Digital Media topics, building industry standards-based knowledge, and improving problem solving, decision making, and metacognition — essential know-how for career readiness. All pathway activities advance SWP goals to expand, support, and diversify the pipeline in this “equity gap” sector.

Goals & Priorities

Students will receive industry certifications test prep, materials, and fees for certification exams to attain 1 or 2 digital media certifications. Teaching staff (2) will receive certifications related to skills for projected industry needs and workforce gaps. CTE students will benefit from industry assessments via WBL experience and WBL projects and will complete a portfolio and reviews. Incorporate co-teach dual enrollment course.
