Pathways Improvement Scope

This project seeks to create formal collaboration between LAAAE and feeder community colleges (Los Angeles City College and Los Angeles Trade Tech College) that will create a clear pathway to a certification at a community college.

Goals & Priorities

Funding will be used to pay community college staff (Los Angeles Trade tech and Los Angeles City College) to collaborate with LAAAE faculty to ensure curriculum and syllabi will have a clear path to college. By formally collaborating with a community college to align instruction it will allow for a smoother transition from high school to college. These activities will improve CTE pathways by streamlining the transition to college and will lead to a minimum of each pathway having one feeder class at the local community colleges. The main work to be funded will be the completion and expansion of CTE programs by adding concentrator and capstone courses to each of our two pathways. The programs require collaboration and planning time along with ongoing professional development maintain the high-quality instructional expertise provided by our faculty. We will partner with the Arts and Enterprise Foundation organization to link employers and educational institutions to connect students at LAAAE to work opportunities.
