Pathways Improvement Scope

CVUHSD will strengthen career pathways and programs of study by increasing the “college and career readiness” data on the CA Dashboard by
10% annually through: 1) partnership with ECC on new dual enrollment pathways/certifications 2) partnership with EXP and the SBWIB to increase the completion rate of pre-apprenticeships, internships, student-led enterprises, and virtual/simulated WBL; 3) increase pathway completion rates through implementation of an industry/college mentorship program; and 4) increased access to ECC college outreach counselors.
2. CVUHSD will address the needs of business and industry in identified priority and emerging sectors through: 1) partner with ECC and Career
Ladders Project to support existing and offer new pathways; and 2) continue to partner with CSU Dominguez Hills and ECC to build the entrepreneurship pathway courses and explore implementing a new cyber-security and/or aerospace/electrical engineering pathway.
3. CVUHSD will explore effective strategies for serving students in the transition from a distance to in-person learning environment through: 1)
implement a “Dual Enrollment Success” Camp that promotes dual enrollment success; 2) implement a “Dual Enrollment Faculty Success” Program; 3) fund 3 full time CTE Student Support Specialists who monitor progress towards graduation and pathway completion and provide real-time
interventions; and 4) purchase industry-current equipment, hardware, and software that ensures equal access and continuity of learning.

Goals & Priorities

We will support the development of new CTE Pathways that align student interest with local and regional industry priorities. Create and implement a new Industry and College/Pathway Mentorship program that provides high school pathway students ongoing and relatable structured mentoring by industry professionals and college students currently active in the Strong Workforce target industry sectors. Formalize current and create new Work Based Learning (WBL) experiences that build on the current CVUHSD programs to enable students to fulfill the state’s most recent criteria for college and career readiness through WBL opportunities (pre-apprenticeships, internships, virtual/simulated WBL, and student-led enterprises).
