Pathways Improvement Scope

The project seeks to strengthen the BUSD CTE Pathways leading to Los Angeles Valley College by: Increasing the number of students who take advantage of both dual enrollment opportunities and articulated course offerings in order to transition directly to the community college.

Goals & Priorities

The district plans to accomplish these goals by: Teachers will meeting regularly to evaluate current course offerings and to design new courses to expand the current career pathways|Increasing the number of dual enrollment courses that are offered at the high school that lead to certificate programs at the community college|LAVC Counselors will provide career pathway advisement two days per semester per year for the high schools| Increasing career counseling pathways for all high school students in Burbank USD by providing them with guidance services, individual support and plans; increasing the amount of college counselors available to high school students|The LAVC will assist the district counselors in providing informational meeting for parents, so that they are better able to guide their students in their scheduling decisions and provide tours and orientations to students along with helping students with registration at the community college|The district will work with its business partners to build upon the work that has already begun in order to increase access to Work Based Learning opportunities for all students|The district will take advantage of the CTE advisory structure to plan activities and encourage more business partners to participate|The district will increase the number of Hispanic students and EL students who are participating
