The California Community College Baccalaureate Program, a significant advancement signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2021, addresses evolving workforce needs where a bachelor’s degree is now a prerequisite for employment eligibility. This pioneering initiative positions California among the twenty-four states allowing community colleges to offer baccalaureate degrees. Focused on fostering a Community of Practice, this regional project aims to develop a supportive framework for advancing new and existing baccalaureate degree programs in the LA Region. With eight baccalaureate programs in fields like Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, and Biomanufacturing, these bachelor’s programs not only bridge equity gaps but also align with Vision 2030’s goals for success, access, and support equity.
