Pathways Improvement Scope
The YouthBuild Charter School of California Pipeline to Healthcare and Advanced Manufacturing Training project will expand and strengthen career pathways in two high-demand sectors: Healthcare and Advanced Manufacturing. The initiative will develop a new Patient Care pathway, expand Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and testing capacity, establish STEM labs to support advanced manufacturing education, and increase dual enrollment opportunities with Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) and East Los Angeles College (ELAC). Through industry partnerships, work-based learning, career exploration, and pre-apprenticeship opportunities, the project will create seamless transitions from secondary education to postsecondary training and employment.
Goals & Priorities
The project’s primary goals are to increase student access to healthcare and advanced manufacturing pathways, improve credential attainment and pathway completion, expand employer and community college partnerships, and prepare students for high-demand careers with opportunities for wage growth. Key priorities include launching an Introduction to Healthcare course, expanding CNA certification opportunities, developing a regional Advanced Manufacturing STEM hub, increasing work-based learning and apprenticeship participation, and providing intensive support services for opportunity youth, including low-income students, foster youth, justice-involved youth, and other historically underserved populations.
