Pathways Improvement Scope
The project will expand and strengthen Westbrook Academy’s existing Arts, Media, and Entertainment (Video Production) pathway while laying the foundation for a future Health Careers pathway in partnership with East Los Angeles College (ELAC). Through a comprehensive 7-12 career readiness continuum, students will gain access to dual enrollment courses, industry certifications, work-based learning experiences, internships, AI training, college exposure, and career exploration activities. The initiative is designed to increase equitable access to high-wage, high-demand career pathways for historically underserved students.
Goals & Priorities
The project’s primary goals are to improve college and career readiness, increase pathway participation and completion, strengthen alignment with ELAC programs, and expand access to meaningful professional experiences. Key priorities include closing equity gaps for low-income, English Learner, and underrepresented students; ensuring students earn work readiness credentials; increasing dual enrollment participation; providing internships and industry exposure; and preparing students for careers in media, digital technology, AI, and health sectors that align with regional workforce demands.
