This project addresses the critical workforce needs in the Los Angeles region by focusing on the recruitment, preparation, and retention of faculty in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. By preparing industry experts to transition into teaching, the initiative will support the region’s 19 community colleges in bridging CTE workforce gaps across all eight priority sectors, including advanced manufacturing, health, life sciences, and ICT/digital media. The project aims to strengthen faculty retention through targeted professional development and a community of practice that fosters the sharing of best practices. It also includes the creation of tools and resources to enhance classroom and work-based learning experiences, ensuring student success. With a focus on equitable outcomes, the project supports Chancellor’s Vision 2030 to address the CTE teacher shortage and improve career outcomes for students. The activities include curriculum development, training cohorts, and stipends for faculty participation, with a focus on creating a pipeline of qualified, diverse educators prepared for the classroom of tomorrow.
