These meetings are intended to support California community colleges as they rise to meet Gov. Gavin Newsom’s ambitious goal of reaching 500,000 active apprentices in California by 2029. These regional meetings will provide an overview on the fundamentals of apprenticeship for college teams looking to build apprenticeship programs. Subject-matter experts will share information on apprenticeship program development, curriculum development, Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), the role of intermediaries, and employer engagement, offering participants the opportunity to gain critical knowledge to build apprenticeship programs on their campuses.
Audience:
These meetings are open to faculty or staff interested in apprenticeship at local California community colleges. The meetings are designed for teams of up to three people from colleges that do not currently offer apprenticeship programs but are looking to bring them to their campuses. It is strongly encouraged that participating college teams include their chief instructional officer, career technical education dean and academic senate president.
Space is limited. No more than three attendees from each college per convening. Participants can only attend one of the three meetings, preferably at the training location which is within closest proximity to the college. It is strongly encouraged to register early and to register all members of the college team participants together to ensure all can attend.
Current Apprenticeship Pathways Demonstration Project participants are invited but not required to attend.
Logistics:
All meetings will be 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., with light breakfast and lunch provided. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Complimentary parking will also be provided.
