LAUNCH LA Apprenticeship Network

Bringing Education &
Industry Together

The LAUNCH LA Apprenticeship Network was formed by the Los Angeles Regional Consortium (LARC) and makes apprenticeship accessible and possible for Los Angeles businesses and career builders. LAUNCH LA is an intermediary/program sponsor, providing technical assistance and education to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and Businesses wanting to adopt the apprenticeship model.

LARC and LAUNCH LA have established a Regional Hub to streamline program development for pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships. This includes access to approved standards, and support in identifying partnerships, resources, and best practices through the planning and implementation process.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeship is a combination of classroom instruction and On-the-job training. Apprentices are assigned a mentor who will guide them through a set of skills and competencies outlined in the program standards. Through progress and participation apprentices receive wage increases as defined by their employer. Upon program completion, Apprentices may receive certificates of completion from the Division of Apprenticeship Standards and the Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship as well as other college certificates and/or degrees.

Why Apprenticeship?

Historically used to develop professionals in the building and fire trades, apprenticeship is now a valuable tool in industries such as manufacturing and logistics, information technology, healthcare, transportation and energy. As apprenticeships continue to evolve, the basic concept remains the same. Apprentices work alongside experienced veterans to combine theory from the classroom and hands-on learning in the workplace.
